Rumely was established in 1853 in La Porte, Indiana, initially focusing on manufacturing threshers and later expanding into steam engines. The company introduced its first internal combustion tractor, the OilPull, in 1910, which featured an oil-cooled engine. In 1911, Rumely merged with the Advance Thresher Company, resulting in the rebranding to Advance-Rumely. In the late 1920s, Advance-Rumely tried to penetrate the smaller tractor market with models such as the DoAll and the 6A, but faced challenges. In 1931, Allis-Chalmers acquired Advance-Rumely and subsequently halted production of all models.
