The American Machine and Foundry (AMF), a US industrial conglomerate, produced lawn and garden tractors during the 1960s and 1970s. In 1963, AMF acquired Western Tool, a manufacturer of outdoor equipment based in Iowa, which operated under its own brand, Homko, in addition to fulfilling contract work. AMF ceased the sale of tractors under its name in 1976, and in 1982, it sold the division to local management, rebranding it as Western International. The company changed hands again in 1986, and the factory in Des Moines ultimately closed in 1988.
