Deutz's origins date back to the innovations of Nikolaus Otto, Gottlieb Daimler, and the development of the first internal combustion engines. The company started producing agricultural machinery in 1907. Following World War II, Deutz tractors gained widespread popularity in Western Europe, thanks to their reliable and robust air-cooled diesel engines. In 1969, Deutz merged with Fahr, a manufacturer of agricultural implements. Later, in 1995, the company was acquired by SAME.
