Eicher is an Indian farm tractor manufacturer that is a subsidiary of TAFE. Its roots trace back to the German tractor maker Eicher, which was established in 1930. The German company set up Eicher (India) in 1959. However, starting in the 1970s, Eicher (Germany) faced financial challenges, changed ownership multiple times, and ultimately ceased operations in 2006. Meanwhile, Eicher (India) continued to manufacture tractors and sold its tractor division to TAFE in 2005.
