Escorts Agricultural Machines Limited was established in India in 1948, initially operating as a franchise for Minneapolis-Moline. In 1958, the company began importing Massey Ferguson tractors for the Indian market. By 1960, they had commenced manufacturing operations and soon were producing Ursus tractors under a licensing agreement. In 1969, Escorts entered into a partnership with Ford to manufacture the Ford 3000 at their Indian facility. However, the contract with Ford-New Holland ended in 1996, prompting Escorts to launch their own tractor line under the Farmtrac brand. In 1998, they expanded their offerings with the introduction of the Powertrac brand and acquired Long Agribusiness to facilitate tractor distribution in the United States.
