Fate-Root-Heath was established in 1919 through the merger of Fate and Root-Heath in Plymouth, Ohio. While the company produced a variety of machinery, its main focus was on manufacturing locomotives. In an effort to expand its offerings, they developed a small tractor called the Plymouth. However, a dispute with Chrysler over the name led to the brand being sold to the automaker, prompting the introduction of the Silver King name for their tractors. Although sales were consistent and successful, they remained modest compared to larger tractor manufacturers. In 1954, the management sold the tractor division, and the company rebranded as Plymouth Locomotive Works. It was later acquired by Ohio Locomotive Crane in 1999.
