Fendt originated from the Fendt family blacksmith shop located in Marktoberdorf, Bavaria, Germany. In 1928, Hermann Fendt created the first "dieselross" (diesel horse) by using a stationary engine and an old mower in his father's workshop. This innovative tractor gained popularity, leading to significant growth for the company in the 1930s and 1940s, establishing it as a prominent brand. Fendt's advancements, particularly with its Vario transmission and Xylon chassis, propelled the company’s success. In 1997, Fendt became part of AGCO.
