The John Deere 1830 was a utility tractor produced from 1973 to 1979. It was built in Mannheim, Germany, and was essentially a model 2030 designated 1830 for export to Canada to avoid confusion with the Dubuque-built 2030. It features a 3.6L 4-cylinder diesel engine producing 68 hp, with options for 8-speed gear or 16-speed two-speed power shift transmissions. The tractor offers two- or four-wheel drive, hydraulic wet disc brakes, power steering, and an open operator station. It has a rear PTO with independent operation and optional 540/1000 RPM speeds. The 1830 supports a rear hitch with position control and draft sensing, and can be equipped with a 145 front-end loader attachment. Dimensions include a 2WD wheelbase of 85.8 inches and a weight of 5600 lbs.
