Long Manufacturing produced its inaugural tractor in 1948. However, the company quickly shifted gears, transitioning from manufacturing its own tractors to importing models from Uzina Tractorul Brasov (UTB) and some Landini tractors. In 1985, Long filed for bankruptcy but made a comeback in 1987 following a reorganization. In 1998, Long Agribusiness was acquired by the Escort Group from India, and the Long name was replaced with the Farmtrac brand. Ultimately, Farmtrac North America ceased operations in late 2008.
