The Midland Company of Wisconsin was known for producing two-wheel garden tractors as well as the Bull Pup tractor. The company originated in Racine in 1911, initially operating as Schartow Manufacturing and specializing in saddlery hardware. In 1928, it adopted the name Midland and relocated to South Milwaukee. In the 1950s, Midland began producing the Dandy Boy two-wheel garden tractors, distributing them through Montgomery Ward and under its own brand. In 1958, the company was acquired by OMC and integrated into its Lawn Boy division.
