MTD 992
The MTD 992 is a garden tractor produced from 1995 to 1999 as part of the 900 Series by MTD. It features a 20 hp Briggs & Stratton 568cc 2-cylinder air-cooled horizontal-shaft V-Twin gasoline engine with electric start. The tractor uses an Eaton shaft-driven hydrostatic transmission with infinite forward and reverse speeds in 2 ranges. It has two-wheel drive, manual steering, and an open operator station. The electrical system is 12 volts with negative ground. Attachments include optional 50" and 60" mid-mount mower decks with 3 blades, the 50" deck having hydraulic lift. The tractor also has an optional rear hitch and an independent mid PTO with manual clutch.
