Renault started manufacturing automobiles in 1898 and began exploring tractor production by 1910. During World War I, the company developed a light tank for the French Army, which served as the foundation for its first production tractor. After World War II, the focus shifted to tractor production, largely due to government initiatives to revitalize the agricultural economy. In 2004, Renault Agriculture was purchased by Claas, and the Renault brand name was subsequently discontinued.
