Roper was a producer of lawn and garden equipment in the United States during the second half of the 20th century. The company began manufacturing outdoor power tools in 1964 after the George D. Roper Company acquired the former David Bradley manufacturing facility from Sears. For the next thirty years, Roper consistently supplied lawn equipment to Sears. In 1989, General Electric (GE) acquired Roper, and subsequently, Roper's outdoor division was sold to AB Electrolux. This division became part of Electrolux's American Yard Products (AYP) division, which included the Husqvarna brand, and was later established as a separate company under the Husqvarna name.
