Sears ventured into the lawn tractor industry in 1959 by introducing the David Bradley Suburban models. The David Bradley name was phased out in 1964, and by the 1970s, the Craftsman brand was in use. Today, all Sears lawn and garden tractors are marketed under the Craftsman or Craftsman Professional brands. Over the years, several companies have manufactured these tractors, with AYP and MTD being the primary producers in more recent times.
