In the 1970s, Upton Engineering, located in New South Wales, Australia, manufactured the largest two-wheel drive tractors in the world. The early Upton tractors from the 1960s incorporated military surplus tank parts. Subsequently, Upton began using components from truck construction equipment, culminating in the Upton HT-14/350—a 51,000-pound two-wheel drive tractor equipped with earthmover tires. Upton ceased tractor production by 1980 but still remains active in manufacturing irrigation equipment.
