Wallis Bear

The Wallis Bear tractor was produced from 1910 to 1914 by Wallis, a part of J.I. Case Plow Works, with factories in Cleveland, Ohio and Racine, Wisconsin. The Bear name may have been used on various Wallis tractors dating back to 1902, featuring a basic three-wheel configuration. Production was limited, with only nine or ten units made around 1912, and only one known surviving tractor today. It was powered by large 4-cylinder gasoline engines of 17.4L or 24.3L displacement, liquid-cooled, with hand-crank starters. The transmission was a 3-speed gear type with one reverse gear. Claimed power was 30 hp at the drawbar and 50 hp at the belt, capable of pulling 10 plows. The tractor featured 3x2 2WD drive, mechanical power assist steering, and an open operator station with an optional canopy. It weighed approximately 16,000 lbs (7,257 kg).
