The Cockshutt 40 is a row-crop tractor produced from 1949 to 1958 by Cockshutt in Brantford, Ontario, Canada. It was available with a Buda 230 cubic inch engine in gasoline, diesel, LP-gas, or distillate fuel options. In 1955, a Perkins diesel engine was also offered as the 40D4 model, known as the 40D4 Golden Eagle in the U.S. The tractor features a 6-speed gear transmission with 2 reverse speeds, a 540 RPM rear PTO, and a two-wheel drive with manual steering and an open operator station. It has a wheelbase of 86.7 inches and an operating weight of 5305 lbs. The original price was $3,600 in 1957.
