In 1984, Allis-Chalmers faced significant challenges and was acquired by Deutz. Following the acquisition, Deutz rebranded the Allis tractors to Deutz-Allis and began importing Deutz-Fahr tractors under this new name. This transition to a green color scheme from the iconic Allis orange was disappointing for many loyal Allis-Chalmers farmers. In 1991, the Deutz-Allis division was sold to AGCO, which subsequently renamed the brand AGCO Allis and reinstated the orange color. However, AGCO phased out the AGCO Allis name in 2001.
