Throughout much of the 20th century, International produced a comprehensive selection of construction and industrial equipment. The company's first specialized industrial tractor, the McCormick 20, was introduced in 1925. A range of wheeled and tracked farm tractors were marketed for industrial applications, which resulted in the establishment of a dedicated industrial division in 1944. In 1952, International acquired Hough PayLoader, a prominent player in the wheeled loader industry. However, due to economic challenges, International sold its industrial division to Dresser in 1982.
