John Deere 840

The John Deere 840 was an industrial scraper tractor produced from 1959 to 1962. It was based on the model 830 tractor and initially used a Hancock 7E2 scraper until serial number 8400900, after which a John Deere Model 400 scraper was used. The first 63 units were assembled by Hancock before Deere took over production. It features a 7.7L 2-cylinder diesel engine, 6-speed gear transmission, and two-wheel drive with power steering. The tractor has an open operator station and weighs between 10,400 and 23,200 pounds depending on configuration.
