John Deere A

The John Deere A was produced from 1934 to 1952 and was John Deere's first true row-crop tractor, replacing the GP. It was built in Waterloo, Iowa, USA, with a total production of 300,000 units. The A model was the row-crop variant and the first Deere tractor to come from the factory with rubber tires. Several variants existed including the AR (standard front axle), AO (orchard), AOS (narrow orchard), AW (adjustable wide-front), AN (single front wheel), AWH (high-crop adjustable wide-front), and ANH (high-crop single front wheel). It featured a John Deere 5.1L 2-cylinder liquid-cooled horizontal engine with 18 hp drawbar power and a 4-speed unsynchronized gear transmission. The tractor had a rear PTO with 540 rpm and weighed 3783 lbs (1715 kg).
