The black chassis featured a new transmission design and new cab. The tractor is powered by a 4.9L 6-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine available in two versions (2900 and 649T) with rated power around 117.8 hp. It has a 12-speed partial power shift transmission called Power Director. The tractor features two-wheel drive, power steering, differential dry disc brakes, and optional Acousta-Cab. It has a fuel capacity of 37 gallons and a hydraulic system capacity of 7 gallons. The 470 loader attachment offers a lift capacity of 2900 lbs and breakout force of 3700 lbs. The tractor was built in West Allis, Wisconsin, USA, with a total production of 7,264 units.
