The Allis-Chalmers Company was a prominent producer of agricultural and industrial machinery in the United States throughout much of the 20th century. Its headquarters were located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and it boasted a significant tractor manufacturing facility in the nearby town of West Allis, which was named after the company. However, financial struggles resulted in the company’s dissolution in 1985. Its agricultural equipment division was sold to Klockner-Humboldt-Deutz from Germany. Tractor manufacturing persisted under the Deutz-Allis brand until 1989, when the management acquired the company and established AGCO.
