The John Deere M was produced from 1947 to 1952 as a utility tractor replacing the H, L, and LA models. It was the first tractor produced at Deere's Dubuque factory and introduced Deere's Touch-O-Matic hydraulic system. It featured PTO and electric starting as standard. Variants included the MT row-crop, MC crawler, and MI industrial models. The M was powered by a 1.6L 2-cylinder gasoline engine and had a 4-speed unsynchronized transmission.
