Fordson Power Major

The Fordson Power Major was produced from 1958 to 1961 by Fordson, a part of Ford, in Dagenham, England. It featured two engine options: a 3.6L 4-cylinder diesel and a 3.3L 4-cylinder gasoline engine. The tractor had a 6-speed unsynchronized gear transmission with 2 reverse gears and a dry disc clutch. It was a two-wheel drive tractor with power assist steering and mechanical shoe brakes. The Power Major had a drawbar power of 42.63 hp and a PTO power of 47.65 hp. It had a fuel capacity of 17.4 gallons and used a gear pump hydraulic system with 2200 psi pressure. The rear PTO was transmission-driven with an optional live PTO at 540 RPM. Dimensions included an 80-inch wheelbase, 130.5-inch length, and 65-inch width. Operating weight ranged from 4540 to 5200 pounds depending on configuration, with a ballasted weight of 10,370 pounds. The tractor used various agricultural tire sizes and had a positive ground electrical system with different battery configurations for diesel and gasoline models.
