International Harvester 284

The International Harvester 284 is a compact utility tractor built by Komatsu in Japan from 1976 to 1984. It was distributed by International Harvester and offered with either a Mazda 1.2L 4-cylinder gasoline engine or a Nissan 1.6L 3-cylinder diesel engine (available starting in 1981). The tractor features an 8-speed sliding gear transmission with dry disc clutch, manual steering, hydraulic wet disc brakes, and an open operator station with optional two-post ROPS and canopy. It has a 4x2 2WD drive with an optional 4x4 MFWD 4WD available after 1982 only with the diesel engine. The 284 offers a rear PTO with 540/1000 RPM options and a rear hitch with position control. It has a fuel capacity of 8.7 gallons and hydraulic system capacity of 3.4 gallons. The tractor weighs between 2050 and 2740 pounds depending on configuration and has standard agricultural tires for 2WD and 4WD versions, as well as lawn/turf tire options.
