Wheel Horse originated in 1946 in the garage of Elmer Pond, who began crafting two-wheel garden tractors from surplus parts. Within a decade, his venture flourished, leading to the production of a complete range of lawn and garden tractors, as well as riding mowers. Throughout the years, Wheel Horse lawn tractors have maintained a consistent design standard. In 1986, Toro acquired Wheel Horse and continued to manufacture lawn tractors under the Wheel Horse brand until 2007.
