Gilson was an American producer of mowers, tractors, and various outdoor equipment throughout much of the twentieth century. Established in 1911, the company expanded significantly in the 1960s by acquiring Gearo, Versch, and Burns, becoming a key player in the residential power equipment market. Besides selling its own brand, Gilson also manufactured lawn tractors for retailers like Montgomery Ward and Ford. In 1987, Gilson was acquired by Outboard Marine Corporation (OMC) and subsequently merged with OMC's Lawn Boy division. Lawn Boy was sold to Toro in 1989, and the production at the Plymouth, Wisconsin factory was discontinued in 1990.
