Ford was a significant producer of agricultural tractors throughout much of the 20th century. The Ford name was first associated with tractors in 1939 with the launch of the 9N model, although the Fordson brand had been established for two decades prior. In 1964, the European Fordson and US Ford brands were unified to create a global line of tractors. In 1985, Ford acquired New Holland, resulting in the formation of the Ford-New Holland product line. However, in 1990, Ford sold its farm equipment division to Fiat, which gradually began to discontinue the use of the Ford name.
